Former Union Minister and former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad addressed a public meeting in Sainik Form, Jammu today. Azad had recently resigned from the Congress party. This was his first public meeting after leaving the Congress party.
Azad said that he stands with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he would soon form a new political party and in view of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, its first unit would be formed in the state. He said that the name of the new political party has not been decided yet. He said that the new party would focus on providing full statehood to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor with the Legislative Assembly, land rights and employment to the people of the state.
He said that the roots of the new political party would be on the land of Jammu and Kashmir and the design of the flag of this party would be prepared by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad said that the Congress party has been watered with blood by its workers. It is not made from computer and Twitter.
After Azad’s resignation, more than twenty-four MLAs of Jammu and Kashmir have joined him. These include a former Deputy Chief Minister, eight former ministers, a former MP and nine MLAs.
