The BJP-led government is to hold their 5th round of talks with the farmer’s representatives who have been on a protest in the national capital. According to sources, the Union home minister Amit Shah had gone across to meet PM Modi in the early hours to discuss the meeting with farmers. The others who were present were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. Inspite of the government making promises on the MSP, the farmer’s protest is growing into a major protest with more and more people joining in.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given necessary instructions for the meeting before they meet the farmer’s representatives.
The central government planned to make things clear about the misunderstanding about the Bill.
“Farmers’ doubts will be cleared in today’s meeting with the centre. In recent meetings, some issues were clarified. It’s politics by opposition… they’re instigating the protest. The meeting will be fruitful and we expect farmers will roll back protest,” Junior Agriculture Minister Kailash Choudhary said today.
Home Minster Amit Shah has met Rajnath Singh, Mr Tomar, Mr Goyal several times this week over the issue, say sources.
Earlier attempts to convince the farmers’ ended in a deadline. The farmers’ representatives made a 39-point presentation on the inadequacies of the laws. They’ve refused piecemeal changes and have demanded written assurance on the MSP. They say the new laws will leave them at the mercy of corporates.
