Green crackers allowed in Delhi-NCR, Delhi government welcomes Supreme Court’s decision

The Supreme Court’s decision to allow the sale and use of green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR has been widely welcomed. The Delhi government has described the decision as in line with public sentiment.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her gratitude to the Supreme Court and wrote on ‘X’
– “Thank you to the Supreme Court for allowing the use of green crackers in the capital on the special request of the Delhi Government.”

She said that this decision respects public sentiment and enthusiasm on the auspicious occasion of Diwali , while also reflecting a balanced approach to environmental protection. Rekha Gupta also stated that the Delhi government, while respecting public sentiment , is fully committed to the resolution of a clean and green Delhi .

The Chief Minister said,
“Our goal is to maintain the festive spirit while also ensuring environmental protection. This Diwali, let us all work together to balance celebration and environmental protection with green firecrackers and realize our commitment to a ‘green and prosperous Delhi.'”

Meanwhile, Delhi government minister Kapil Mishra also welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision. He wrote on the X
: “Jai Shri Ram! The government has changed, the ban on Hindu festivals has ended. After years, Delhiites will celebrate Diwali in the traditional way.”

He added,
“The Supreme Court’s decision to allow green firecrackers on Diwali is welcome. The Delhi government presented the public’s voice before the court—special thanks to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for this.”

As per the Supreme Court order, only green firecrackers with QR codes will be sold in Delhi-NCR from October 18 to 21. Furthermore , the time for bursting firecrackers has been fixed from 6 pm to 10 pm .
