“India is now ranked third on the list of powerful countries.”

An Australian think tank, the Lowy Institute, has recently released a list of powerful countries in Asia. In the “Asia Power Index 2024,” India has been ranked as the third most powerful country in Asia. In the 2024 edition of this index, India has surpassed Japan. Now, only the United States and China are ahead of India. Russia had already fallen behind India in this index. As a result, India’s growing power is now being recognized on a global scale. According to the report of the Asia Power Index 2024, India had scored 36.3 points in the 2023 index, which has now increased by 2.8 points to 39.1 in the 2024 index, moving India from fourth to third place.

According to Prahlad Sabnani, an author, economic expert, and columnist, the Asia Power Index 2024 was developed by analyzing data from 27 countries and regions. The index takes into account the emerging power dynamics in Asia and is based on a thorough analysis of data from the past six years across various metrics. These metrics include economic capability, military power, economic resilience, availability of resources in the future, diplomatic and economic relations, and cultural influence. Based on these criteria, the 27 countries and regions were evaluated and ranked in the index.

Among the top five positions, four are held by members of the “Quad.”

In this index, the United States ranks first with 81.7 points. China holds the second position with 72.7 points. India has secured the third position with 39.1 points. Japan, with 38.9 points, Australia with 31.9 points, and Russia with 31.1 points are ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.
