NEW DELHI: Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani expressed strong confidence that India will lead the globe in scaling Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for the general populace. Highlighting the nation’s extensive digital public infrastructure and large demographic base, he noted that the country possesses unmatched structural potential to deploy advanced technologies directly at the grassroots.
Nilekani emphasized that India’s strategic focus should center on resolving real-world problems in foundational areas like healthcare, education, agriculture, and financial inclusion, rather than limiting AI to elite commercial applications. Leveraging existing digital public platforms will enable AI-driven public services to reach the last mile efficiently and affordably.
He added that the adaptability of Indian citizens toward digital innovations provides a distinct advantage despite wide linguistic and regional diversity. With coordinated public policy and citizen-centric frameworks, India can demonstrate globally how frontier technologies can be harnessed for inclusive social and economic empowerment.
