The Indian Army has foiled a major terrorist infiltration attempt near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir . The Army has named the operation “Operation Pimple.” In the operation, which began Saturday morning, Army personnel killed two terrorists , while a search operation is still underway in the area.
The Chinar Corps shared the information on its official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account at 7:10 am on Saturday. The post said,
“Based on specific intelligence on November 7, security agencies launched a joint operation. Alert troops observed suspicious movement and immediately challenged. The terrorists retaliated by indiscriminate firing, following which the Army engaged them and an encounter ensued.”
About an hour later, at 8:15 am , the Chinar Corps shared another update, saying,
“Two terrorists have been eliminated in the ongoing operation. Search operations are continuing in the entire area.”
According to army sources, the operation was launched to prevent infiltration by terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) . The Keran sector of Kupwara has long been notorious for terrorist activities and infiltration attempts.
Defense sources said that sophisticated surveillance drones, thermal imaging, and night vision equipment were used in the operation, allowing the terrorists’ movements to be tracked in real time. Weapons, ammunition, and Pakistani-made equipment are expected to be recovered from the slain terrorists.
According to the Army, several infiltration attempts have been foiled in the Kupwara and Baramulla sectors so far in 2025. Earlier, during Operation Sindoor, India carried out targeted strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan , following which vigilance was further increased along the border.
According to sources, terrorist organizations are intensifying efforts to send infiltrators into the Indian border before winter , hoping to push their men through the closed routes after the snowfall. However, the Indian Army’s intelligence network and technical surveillance systems are so robust that each attempt has been thwarted so far.
The army stated that combing operations are still underway in the area to ensure that no other terrorists have taken refuge in the area. Security forces said that all activities along the border are being closely monitored and any infiltration will not be tolerated.
