Not much time had gone by when the entire nation was shaken by the news of how two innocent Palghar sadhus were attacked and lynched by the people. They were lynched and killed. These incidences only go on to prove that more and more such attacks and the recent Hindu temples vandalised in the near past. All this show that there has been a deliberate attempt to attack Hinduism itself. Recently another such attack has taken place. An innocent Sadhu was murdered in UP by unknown miscreants. Identified as a 60-year-old Sompal, the sadhu was a Naga Sadhu who was killed in the Sindhaura village of Diaoria Kala Police Station, Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the news, the police have filed a case against unknown persons on the basis of an allegation. The innocent sadhu stayed in a hut in a small temple complex on the Nagori canal of a river in the village. The Seer had two dogs to protect him, which prevented someone unfamiliar from going into the shrine. Sompal was 25 years old when he became Naga Sadhu, abandoned his home, and began to live outside the village. His family members, however, who live in the same village, also visited him. Members of the family said that Somnath had no disagreement with anybody.
The Seer was targeted by the miscreants on Friday night. During the altercation, he sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot. Reports say that the dogs were targeting the miscreants. One of the dogs was found wounded as well. On Saturday morning, when his niece came to visit him, she found him dead and told the family. The police visited the location of the incident and, after examining the scene of the murder, filed a complaint and sending the body for post-mortem.
Jai Prakash, Superintendent of Police, Diaoria, said they had registered a case against unknown persons on the grounds of a family complaint and had begun an investigation. He claimed the accused was going to be arrested soon.
