Political parties in Maharashtra have released their lists of candidates for the 2024 Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared the names of 125 candidates in its first list, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance has also announced candidates for over 100 seats. In this election, both alliances will face a tough battle against each other.
The BJP’s first list includes several senior leaders. This group features prominent figures such as Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, State President Chandrakant Patil, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. They are seen as the party’s key electoral faces.
On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi comprises the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), the Nationalist Congress Party, and the Congress Party. This alliance has also released a list of about 100 candidates. Senior leaders included are Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and State Congress President Nana Patole.
Regarding electoral issues, the BJP has prioritized development, stability, and good governance in the state. Meanwhile, the MVA alliance has focused on economic development, job opportunities, farmers’ issues, and social justice.
Both sides are seen hurling accusations at each other. The BJP is accusing the Maha Vikas Aghadi of corruption and spreading political instability, while the MVA alliance is blaming the BJP government for failing to live up to public expectations.
To secure victory in the elections, both alliances are working independently. The BJP is conducting its campaign with the help of its senior leaders and central ministers, while the MVA alliance is relying on its grassroots support and regional popularity.
Political analysts believe that the Maharashtra elections in 2024 will witness a fierce contest between the BJP and the MVA alliance. Both sides will strive to win based on their respective strengths. The results of this election could also have an impact on the country’s politics.
