The pace of distribution of forms to voters remains brisk in the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The Election Commission reported on Saturday that more than 420 million counting forms have been distributed so far in this phase, which began on October 4th , representing 82.71% of the 510 million voters participating in this phase .
Uttar Pradesh has distributed the most forms , with over 123.3 million, given its population and voter base. West Bengal is next , with over 71.4 million .
This phase covers nine states and three union territories . The Commission’s goal is to ensure that as many eligible citizens as possible are enrolled in the electoral rolls and that necessary corrections are completed in a timely manner.
According to the Election Commission, this counting and form distribution process will continue until the 4th of next month . The Commission has directed states to complete all activities related to form distribution, verification, and voter list updates in a timely and transparent manner, ensuring that voter lists are error-free and up-to-date for the upcoming elections.
The Commission is continuously coordinating with the regional officers regarding this massive campaign of form distribution and the progress report is also being monitored regularly.
