PC report on Wakf Bill will be presented in Parliament today

BJP MP and Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Wakf (Amendment) Bill, Shri Jagdambika Pal on Thursday announced that the Committee has decided to table its report in Parliament after six months of extensive deliberations. Twenty-one amendments have been incorporated in fourteen sections by the JPC after receiving holistic inputs during nationwide visits.

The JPC was constituted six months ago for detailed discussions and consultations. Mr Pal said that this report prepared after detailed deliberations will be presented in Parliament today. During this period, the JPC travelled across the country and collected various feedback from the community and on this basis adopted 25 amendments.

Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla, has included this report in the agenda today to ensure detailed discussion on it in the House and all members can deliberate on it.

Opposition members expressed their dissent, whose arguments were heard by the JPC and decided upon through voting. The chairman also assured that the notes of those who dissented have been included in the report and the points presented by all the representatives have been added to the JPC report.

The report was submitted to the Speaker of Lok Sabha on 30th January 2025 and will be presented in the Rajya Sabha by Smt. Medha Vishram Kulkarni and Shri Ghulam Ali.
