Marcos Jr., who came at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

At the joint press conference, President Marcos said, “I bring the message of the Philippines’ solidarity with India in the tragic attack in Pahalgam and in the broader fight against terrorism.” He also extended best wishes to India for its ambitious project of becoming a ‘developed India’ by 2047 under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Prime Minister Modi thanked the Philippines government and President Marcos for their support in the fight against terrorism. He thanked the Philippines for strongly condemning the Pahalgam terror attack and standing with India in this crisis.

President Marcos marked the visit as an affirmation of the growing partnership between the two countries. Noting a significant shift in the regional context, he said, “Our region was formerly called the Asia-Pacific, but now, as a result of global political, trade and economic changes, it is indeed more appropriately known as the Indo-Pacific.”

This visit symbolizes the expansion of strategic relations between the two countries and strengthening of regional cooperation.
