PM Modi inspects Ahmedabad plane crash site

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inspected the site of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad and reviewed the situation with officials. London-Gatwick-bound AI-171 flight crashed soon after takeoff on Thursday.

In his message on the social media platform ‘X’, the Prime Minister said, “Visited the accident site in Ahmedabad today. The scene of devastation is tragic. Met the officials and team who have been working tirelessly since the incident. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy.”

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi and other senior officials were also present during the inspection. The Prime Minister also later met those injured in the accident at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the media after taking stock of the situation, said that there was no possibility of anyone surviving due to the high temperature generated due to the approximately 125,000 liters of fuel in the plane. He informed that about 1000 DNA tests have been done so far and the official number of victims will be released only after the DNA tests.

Shah also said that the information was received within just 10 minutes of the incident, after which the Prime Minister, Gujarat Home Minister, Home Department’s control room and Civil Aviation Department were immediately informed. On the instructions of the Prime Minister, the central and state government employees immediately started relief and rescue operations.
