PM Modi attended the 125th anniversary of the birth of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose at the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Minister of State Mamata Banerjee also shared the same dais during the occasion.
Marking the 125th anniversary of the birth of Subhash Chandra Bose in Kolkata’s Victoria Memorial, PM Modi also said that Netaji had once asked people not to lose sight of free India. Similarly, no one can deter Atmanirbhar from being India.
“Netaji would have been extremely proud to see India produce its own Covid vaccines and help other countries as well,” he said. He also said that the country had agreed to celebrate Netaji’s birthday (January 23) as ‘Parakram Divas.’
Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee declined to talk at the event after a part of the crowd sang ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ in the presence of the PM.
“The government policy should have some integrity. I am thankful to the PM and to the Ministry of Culture for welcoming me. But after inviting the guy, one should not offend anyone. I don’t say anything in outrage,” Banerjee said.
