PM Modi inaugurated on Monday the extension of the Kolkata Metro Railway from Noapara to Dakshineswar, revered for the more than 160-year-old temple of Goddess Kali.
He basically flagged off the inaugural train from Noapara to Dakshineswar in the 4.1-km segment of the north-south corridor of the metro from here.
Modi also dedicated to the country the third line between Kalaikunda and Jhargram, the line between Azimganj and Khagraghat Road, the fourth line between Dankuni and Baruipara, and the third line between Rasulpur and Magra.
He said the new lines would reduce congestion and ensure improved connectivity.
The Prime Minister added that the expansion of the metro would mean smoother and quicker connectivity between the Kalighat Temple and the Dakshineswar Kali Temple.
