Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at an annual International Energy Conference next week, will win CERAWeek World Energy and Climate Leadership Award.
At the CERAWeek-2021, held virtually from March 1 to 5, the Prime Minister will also give his keynote speech, IHS Markit announced on Friday.
The conference’s keynote speakers included US special climate envoy John Kerry, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Co-chairman, and Breakthrough Energy founder Bill Gates and Saudi Aramco President and Chief Executive Official, Amin Nasser.
“We look forward to the view of Prime Minister Modi on what will become the position of the greatest democracy in the world and are pleased to honour his pledge to extend Indian leadership in sustainability to fulfil the future needs of the country and the world” with the CERAWeek Global Energy & Environment Leadership Award.
India has emerged as one of the centres of global energy and the environment in its journey towards economic development, poverty reduction and a new energy future, and its leadership is important in achieving the climate goals of a prosperous future while guaranteeing universal energy access, he added.
The annual international conference will draw together oil business executives, scholars, representatives from government and policy makers, technology pioneers, financial and industrial sectors and innovators of energy technology.
