As India celebrates its 72nd Republic Day today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to all Indians. Thousands of armed forces have been stationed at the Rajpath and other border points of the national capital, which have been guarded by a multi-layer security cover in the light of the Republic Day festivities, as well as the planned tractor parade by farmers on Tuesday.
Following the Covid protocols, only 25.000 people will be permitted to attend the Rajpath ceremony, as opposed to more than one lakh spectator who normally attends the event every year.
The parade is also going to be shorter this year. Meanwhile, a 122-strong contingent of Bangladesh armed forces will also march on Rajpath on Tuesday.
India is celebrating the Swarnim Vijay Varsh – Golden Jubilee Year – commemorating the country’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war that led to the formation of Bangladesh.
