NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Belgium, Bart De Wever, during his official state visit to India at the historic Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Both leaders conducted a comprehensive review of the multifaceted bilateral relationship between India and Belgium, agreeing to accelerate cooperation across trade, investment, clean energy, and advanced technology.
Delegations from both sides held in-depth discussions on expanding partnerships in renewable energy, semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, green hydrogen, and modern logistics infrastructure. Special emphasis was placed on bolstering long-standing ties in the diamond trade and port infrastructure development. The leaders also reviewed progress regarding the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations and examined ways to build more resilient and secure global supply chains.
On the international front, both leaders underlined the necessity of maintaining global peace, strengthening coordination in multilateral institutions, and pursuing joint counter-terrorism efforts. Describing Belgium as a trusted and vital European partner for India, Prime Minister Modi affirmed that the bilateral engagement will elevate economic and strategic cooperation between both nations to greater heights.
