SRIHARIKOTA: The Indian Space Research Organisation registered another major milestone in its space program with the successful orbital deployment of its next-generation navigation satellite, NVS-03. Lifting off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, the primary launch vehicle injected the spacecraft into its targeted geosynchronous transfer orbit with precise orbital parameters.
Developed to sustain and upgrade the indigenous NavIC satellite constellation, NVS-03 incorporates a state-of-the-art indigenous atomic clock along with advanced L-band and S-band communication transponders. These upgrades ensure enhanced location accuracy, civilian positioning integrity, disaster warning dissemination, and seamless connectivity for commercial aviation and maritime operators across the region.
Mission directors confirmed that solar arrays deployed autonomously following spacecraft separation and the satellite is functioning stably under ground control telemetry. The successful mission reinforces domestic self-reliance in space-based positioning architecture, reducing operational dependence on foreign global navigation satellite systems for critical civilian and strategic services.
