Relief and rescue operations intensified following landslide incidents in Joshimath

In Uttarakhand, Chief Secretary Dr S. s. Sandhu said that at this time every moment is very important and people living in the affected area should be shifted to a safe place soon. The Chief Secretary directed the officials to ensure proper arrangements for drinking water in the relief camps and other necessities such as repair of water pipelines, sewers and power lines in the affected areas. Dr. Sandhu said that work should be started from today itself to prevent land subsidence and dilapidated buildings should be demolished soon.

He said that in this hour of crisis, the government is fully standing with the residents of the city. All possible help will be provided to the affected people. Dr. Rawat said that the government is serious about the landslide in Joshimath. He also mentioned that the Central Government has also taken cognizance of this problem. The cause of landslide in Joshimath is being studied by expert scientists.

He said that after finding out the problem, a proper solution would be found after taking the suggestions and consent of all the people. He said that no shortage of funds would be allowed. Better facilities should be given to the affected people.
