ED has arrested Sanjay Raut. Prior to his arrest, the ED raided Raut’s residence for nearly nine hours, in which Rs 11.5 lakh in cash was seized, he said. After more than six hours of interrogation, he was arrested after midnight on Sunday.
Officials claimed that Raut was not cooperating in the investigation, due to which he was detained at 12:05 am under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
A team of the agency had reached his residence in Mumbai’s Bhandup area on Sunday, where they searched, questioned Raut and called him for questioning at the agency’s local office till evening. During the search, the team also seized Rs 11.5 lakh in cash, officials said.
Raut told reporters that the federal agency’s action was aimed at weakening Shiv Sena and Maharashtra and a “false” case was prepared against them.
