It is worth mentioning that in several districts of Uttar Pradesh including Prayagraj and Saharanpur, people raised slogans and pelted stones after Friday prayers over alleged objectionable remarks of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma against Prophet Mohammad.

A senior official of the Uttar Pradesh Police Headquarters in Lucknow said sloganeering was reported after prayers from Saharanpur, Moradabad, Rampur and Lucknow districts. He said that after Friday prayers in Saharanpur, Moradabad and Rampur people raised slogans on the streets. According to the police, slogans were raised for some time inside the mound wali mosque located in Chowk area of ​​Lucknow.

According to the information received from Saharanpur, after the prayer, some people raised slogans with placards in their hands. Police said that some people pelted stones at the police in Nehru Bazar area, while in Deoband too after the prayers, some students of the madrasa raised slogans with posters and banners.
