Sonam Raghuvanshi, arrested by Meghalaya Police in the murder case of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, has declared herself innocent in her first official statement. She alleged kidnapping and said that she was left in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, from where she contacted her brother. It is noteworthy that Sonam was found in Ghazipur after being missing for 17 days.
According to Network 18 report, Sonam has claimed that she is not the accused but the victim in this case.
According to the Meghalaya police, Sonam is one of the prime accused in the case. The police allege that she hired the killers to kill her husband. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Sim informed that four accused have been arrested – Akash Rajput, 19, of Lalitpur, Vishal Singh Chauhan, 22, of Indore, Raj Singh Kushwaha, 21, of Indore, and another person from Sagar district.
According to the police, the accused committed the crime on May 23 and fled immediately. Some media reports are also claiming that Sonam had an illicit relationship with Raj, which led to the murder. However, Sonam’s family is constantly supporting their daughter and calling the police allegations false.
On the other hand, Raja Raghuvanshi’s family says that if Sonam is found guilty, she should get the harshest punishment. Raja’s mother has alleged that Sonam forced Raja to go on a honeymoon to Meghalaya and the tickets for the trip were also bought by Sonam. She also said that Sonam forced Raja to wear gold chains and other jewellery.
