Summons sent to Congress leaders in Smriti Irani’s defamation case

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued summons to Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera and Netta D’Souza in a civil defamation case filed by Union Minister Smriti Irani. Justice Mini Pushkarna also directed Congress leaders to remove tweets, retweets, posts, videos and photographs from social media in connection with the allegations against Irani and her daughter.

Irani has sought damages of over Rs 2 crore for allegedly leveling baseless allegations against him and his daughter.

The court also issued directions to remove the posts, videos, tweets, retweets, tampered images, and to prevent their re-dissemination, shared with respect to the plaintiff and his daughter along with the allegations.

The matter has been listed for further hearing before the court on November 15 and before the registrar for August 18.
