Supreme Court Bar Association takes strict action against lawyer Rakesh Kishore for misbehaving with CJI

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has taken strong action against lawyer Rakesh Kishore, who recently misbehaved with Supreme Court Chief Justice (CJI) B.R. Gavai. The association’s executive committee, regarding the incident as serious misconduct, has cancelled Rakesh Kishore’s temporary registration and his entry pass to the Supreme Court premises with immediate effect.

In a resolution passed on Thursday, the SCBA’s executive committee stated that the incident on October 6th exemplified conduct unbecoming and disgraceful of a lawyer. The committee described the act as a violation of the professional code of conduct, an affront to judicial decorum, and an assault on the dignity of the Supreme Court.

The Association stated in its resolution that such behavior not only undermines the independence of the judiciary and the sanctity of court proceedings, but also undermines the relationship of mutual respect and trust established over the years between the Bar and the Bench. The Committee unanimously decided that Rakesh Kishore’s continued membership in the Association is not in keeping with the dignity and discipline of the organization.

After detailed deliberations, the SCBA decided to terminate Rakesh Kishore’s membership with immediate effect and remove his name from the association’s membership list. Furthermore, his membership card issued by the SCBA has been confiscated.

The Supreme Court Bar Association has sent a letter to the Supreme Court Secretariat informing them that Rakesh Kishore’s entry pass to the court premises be immediately revoked. This directive will also be communicated to the relevant officials and all members of the association to ensure prompt action.

In its resolution, the SCBA reiterated its complete commitment to protecting the dignity of the judiciary, the prestige of the legal profession, and constitutional values. The organization clarified that the independence and discipline of the judicial system are the cornerstones of the justice system, and these principles cannot be challenged in any form.
