Tejashwi’s failure: Tej Pratap Yadav’s big statement on Bihar’s historic defeat

The results of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections have upended the political landscape of the entire state. The NDA won a landslide victory in 202 of the 243 seats, while the RJD-Congress grand alliance was reduced to just 35. This is being considered the biggest defeat for the RJD led by Tejashwi Yadav.

Following the results, Tej Pratap Yadav, the eldest son of RJD supremo Lalu Yadav and leader of the Janshakti Janata Dal, issued a lengthy statement on his party’s official Facebook page. In this statement, he spoke openly about the reasons for the RJD’s crushing defeat, internal strife, and the failure of Tejashwi Yadav.

“Even in our defeat lies the victory of the people.”

Tej Pratap wrote:
“I consider the results a mandate. Even in our defeat lies the victory of the people. Bihar has sent a clear message that politics will no longer be about nepotism, but about good governance and education.”

“Jaichands ruined RJD, that is why Tejashwi failed.”

Taking direct aim at the RJD leadership and the Congress, he said:
“These Jaichands have hollowed out the party from within. We had already said that the Congress would be finished—it is clearly visible today. Tejashwi became a ‘failure’ because the RJD was destroyed from within.”

“I win even when I lose.”

Tej Pratap wrote that the love and blessings of the people are his true victory.
“Some people set their own houses on fire to save their seats. History will never forgive them.”

“My doors will always be open to the public.”

In a message to Mahua voters, he said:
“Whether I become an MLA or not, I will fulfill my promises to the people. My doors will always be open.”

NDA’s victory was described as the result of the leadership of Modi-Nitish-Amit Shah.

Tej Pratap said that Bihar’s historic victory is the result of the strategy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Home Minister Amit Shah and the unity of NDA.

“This victory belongs to the people of Bihar”

He concluded:
“The five constituent parties of the NDA fought unitedly. The people transformed this unity into the power of victory. This victory belongs to the people, to trust, to development and good governance. We will return stronger, becoming the voice of the people.”
