Temple-like structure found under mosque in Mangaluru

An architectural design resembling a Hindu temple was found beneath an old mosque in Malali, on the outskirts of Mangaluru, Karnataka. It was found during renovation work at Juma Masjid on Thursday. Please tell that the repair work was being done on behalf of the mosque.

After the design of the temple was revealed from inside the mosque, people now say that there is every possibility that a Hindu or Jain temple existed at this site, as the Kalash, Tomar and Pillar are visible in it.

Kannada Deputy Commissioner Rajendra KV said- ‘I have got information about this from the area officials and the police department. The district administration is investigating the old land records and ownership details. We will take reports from both the Endowment Department and the Waqf Board. We will check the validity of the claims and take an appropriate decision very soon.
