The country’s defense capability is strong, the Navy successfully tested the indigenous missile

India successfully test fired indigenously developed vertically-launched short-range surface-to-air missile on Wednesday. This missile system will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Indian Navy. During the test, this state-of-the-art missile hit its target with pinpoint accuracy under all the specified conditions and completely destroyed it.

According to the Defence Ministry, this test has confirmed the reliability and accuracy of the missile. During the test, all the weapon system elements were deployed in combat configuration, including indigenous radio frequency seeker, multi-function radar and weapons control system. Experts said that all the systems performed as expected. The flight data was verified with various range instruments developed by ITR Chandipur.

The Defence Ministry said that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy conducted the missile test on March 26 at around 12 noon from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha. The test was conducted from a land-based vertical launcher against a high-speed aerial target, at very close range and low altitude. The test established the near-boundary-low altitude capability of the missile system.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, Indian Navy and defence industry on this achievement. He said that this missile system is a testament to the country’s defence research and development capabilities and will significantly enhance the strength of the Indian Navy.

Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO, Dr. Sameer V. Kamat also congratulated the respective teams on the successful test. He mentioned that this missile, equipped with modern technologies, will provide further technological strength to the armed forces, thereby enhancing national security.
