Under-19 ODI: India beat South Africa by 8 wickets in Benoni, take 1-0 series lead

India defeated South Africa by eight wickets in the second Under-19 One Day International (ODI) in Benoni. With this victory, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Due to bad weather, the match was reduced to 27 overs a side and the result was decided using the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Batting first, South Africa Under-19s scored 245 runs in their allotted overs and set India a target of 246. Due to rain and interruption in play, a revised target was implemented, requiring India Under-19s to score 174 runs to win.

The Indian team chased the changed target with utmost composure and confidence. The batsmen maintained the run rate, avoiding unnecessary risks, and won the match by eight wickets. Chasing the target, India maintained control from the start and did not allow the South African bowlers any chance to make a comeback.

The weather repeatedly disrupted the rhythm of the game, but the Indian players adapted to the conditions and performed well. Team India also displayed disciplined bowling, preventing South Africa from posting a large total.

With this win, India has taken the lead in the series, after the first match ended in a draw. The Indian team will now look to secure a win in the next match and seal the series, while South Africa will look to make a comeback.

Overall, despite the changed conditions and pressure, the India Under-19 team displayed a balanced game and took a significant lead in the series.
