In the recently held presidential election, Sinha had to face defeat at the hands of Draupadi Murmu. Sinha had resigned as the National Vice President of the Trinamool Congress ahead of the presidential election.
Sinha said that he has not yet decided what role he wants to play in public life. “I will remain an independent and will not join any other party,” he said.
Asked if he was in touch with the Trinamool leadership, Sinha replied “no”. “Nobody spoke to me, I didn’t talk to anybody,” he said.
I’m 84 now, so these are the problems. I’ll have to see how long I can work for.”
