Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet colleagues took active part in the 4th International ‘Yoga Divas’ 2018. While PM Modi led the participants at Dehradun, in the Forest Research Institute, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and several other leaders, ministers and Union Ministers took part in various Yoga events across the country.
While Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu led the yoga day event at Bandra Reclamation Sealin Promenade in Mumbai, PM Modi led around 50,000 volunteers in the Forest Research Institute to mark the Yoga Divas. Leading from front the prime Minister said that yoga was the binding force that unified the world.
Earlier in the day Prime Minister Modi was welcomed at the Dehradun airport by a big contingent that included Uttarakhand Governor Krishna Kant Paul, Chief Minister TS Rawat and various other officials of the government and leaders of the party.
Several other ministers including Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Suresh Prabhu, Nitin Gadkari, Ram Vilas Paswan, Uma Bharti, and Ravi Shankar Prasad also participated in different yoga programmes in Nagpur, Chennai, Lucknow, Hajipur, Rudraprayag and Patna.
In another yoga event at Kota, Rajasthan around two lakh volunteers practiced various yoga asanas led by Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, which according to reports has set a record. Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje took to the stage to do yoga along with Baba Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna and others.The Chief Minister also appealed to the people of the state to make yoga a part of their lives to keep their mind, body and soul happy and healthy.
Furthermore, multiple yoga events were held across India. While the ITBP personnel practiced yoga in Ladakh, the Paramilitary officers and soldiers of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) performed yoga at the Home Training Recruit Training centres at the outskirts of Srinagar.
Besides Indian’s also chose some unusual places to perform yoga, while the dumping grounds of Chandigarh was the spot chosen by people of Chandigarh, aqua yoga was practiced by people of Gandhi Nagar area in Gujarat. Even the inmates of Central Jail, Bhopal practiced yoga on the jail premises.
