A situation in Amethi intensifies as BJP President Amit Shah tours Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s home constituency in an attempt to lambast the Gandhi family for its negligence of this Lok Sabha constituency with no development.
In a high profile mass rally conducted here at Amethi on Tuesday, Amit Shah took potshots at the “Nehru-Gandhi family bastion” saying, “I want to ask the Congress leader that you ask about the three years of work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people of Amethi question the three generations of the Gandhi family. The people of Gujarat know the development work in Gujarat, you should look at Amethi and the lack of development. There are two types of development models in the country: the first development model is of Gandhi-Nehru family and second is the Modi model of development,”.
Shah was also accompanied by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, taking a dig at the shallow efforts by the Congress Scion after winning from Amethi. With Smriti Irani by his side, the BJP President commented, “for the first time in 30-40 years we see the winning candidate missing from his constituency and the defeated candidate giving time to its people.”
While Shah was addressing people in Rahul Gandhi’s constituency, Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit crisscrossing Gujarat addressing the public at Amit Shah’s constituency, Vadodara. Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress Vice President for mocking the development in Gujarat stating,”I want to ask the “Shahzaade” (Rahul) as to what has three generations of Congress rule has delivered to their home turf Amethi.?”
Praising the Modi model of development in Amethi he said that the Modi government has launched 106 welfare schemes since the last three years of coming to rule. Taking a jibe at the erstwhile Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the former UPA government, Shah said, ” Now we have a PM who speaks whereas earlier we had a PM whom people were desperate to hear.”
Also, he came out in full support of the Yogi Adityanath led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh who has taken many commendable steps for the development of the poor and the needy, such as announcing waivers of farmers loans and construction of houses for the shelterless.
Rahul Gandhi is conducting a Navsarjan yatra as a part of his two-day poll campaign where he’ll be visiting Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, and Vadodara, to understand the issues of the local Congress party and boost the spirit of party workers.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister also ridiculed Rahul Gandhi saying that ” he cannot see development as he sports Italian spectacles.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pulled up the “land grabbing” issue by the Rajeev Gandhi Foundation in Amethi where a cycle factory was supposed to be built. He said that illegitimate land grabbing seems to run in the Gandhi family where the “Damaad”( Robert Vadra) was grabbing land in Haryana and Rahul Gandhi in Amethi.
The BJP focusses on Amethi in particular as it’s the home constituency of Rahul Gandhi, from where Smriti Irani slashed Rahul’s victory status by almost 200,000 votes in the 2014 elections and holds high hopes of a revival. Similarly for Rahul Gujarat is a battleground where BJP is facing the angst of the Patel community and has reportedly failed to create enough jobs in spite of the Make in India and Start-Up India campaigns.
