The year was 2008, and the occasion was— an election rally— the then Congress President and now UPA chairperson addressing a rally, had called PM Modi ‘Maut ka Saudagar’ (Merchant of Death).
Sonia Gandhi was referring to the Godhra riots, after that, thousands cusecs of water has passed over river Narmada, the UPA has stepped down as ruler of India, and BJP has taken over the charges. Rahul Gandhi is now the Congress President. You must be wondering what we are trying to say here!
Well after a decade of the famous or infamous ‘Maut ka Saudagar’ quote of Sonia Gandhi, BJP called Rahul Gandhi the ‘Merchant of Hate’.
This attack from the BJP came after the Gandhi scion accused PM Modi for last Friday’s lynching incident in Alwar, Rajasthan. Rahul had said, “The attack was brought by Narendra Modi’s brutal India.”
Countering Rahul Gandhi’s comments, the Union Minister and BJP MP Smriti Irani retorted that the Gandhi Scion was indulging in ‘Vulture Politics’ and Cabinet Minister Piyush Goyal called Rahul a ‘merchant of hate.’
Earlier on Monday, the Congress president tweeted saying Modi’s brutal New India is to be blame for the callousness of the Rajasthan police who on Friday delayed taking a lynching victim to hospital by three hours, following which the man was declared dead on arrival by the hospital.
The Gandhi scion further said that in this new India, humanity has been replaced with hatred and people are crushed and left to die.
On this issue Irani hit back saying the Congress presided over the worst from of hate in 1984, Bhagalpur, Nellie and many other instances.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal added that Congress President should stop jumping with joy every time a crime happens.
The minister said that Congress is dividing the society for electoral gains. Goyal also asserted that Rajasthan has already insured strict and prompt action.
A minister from the Rajasthan Government, however, opined that whoever is found guilty in the mob lynching case shall be dealt strictly.
Minister Rajyabardhan Singh Rathore commenting on the issue asserted that Rahul Gandhi should stop using a crime for his political gains.
