We may not realize it but the nature and attitude of the sci-fi films has changed dramatically in last eight years, since Enthiran (2.0’s prequel) released. Chitti is back and with the time around, he is reloaded and primed to confront a force that is out to eliminate mobile phones and cellular transmission towers from Tamil Nadu. The battle between good and evil, between nature and technology, plays out over two and a half hours in a zone.
The film ‘2.0’ is revolved around the sad reality of the sparrows vanishing from our metropolises, a theme which is collected from newspapers and social media platforms, but the pressing nature of the debate is buried deep under a flashy, impressive demo of animatronics, special effects and prosthetics.
Director Shankar’s 2.0 begin with a massive bird made up of smart phones killing network chiefs and corrupt ministers who gave the chiefs permission and power.
An Ornithologist named Pakshirajan, who is also known as Akshay Rajan played by Akshay Kumar. The film shows, Pakshirajan is on a revenge spree after the world doesn’t pay heed to his advice of saving birds. And in the there can be seen a long sequence where Pakshirajan would advocate for the bird’s right. It is probably the most thought-out part of a film otherwise bogged down by Rajinikanth’s superstardom and a thin storyline.
Dr. Vaseegaran played by Rajnikanth is back from retirement with his humanoid avatar chitti to stop the evil birdman in a war, which sometimes appeared as very juvenile as Chhota Bheem fighting Kalia,.
Then there is Nila (Amy Jackson), another humanoid who literally donates her master control unit to Chitti. Talk of love stories in the modern world!
The trailer of Akshay Kumar and Rajnikanth’s much-awaited project 2.0 broke records on YouTube. The trailer garnered a combined 25 million views on digital platforms within 24 hours of its release. Now, similar trends are expected from the movie when it releases in theaters on November 29. Trade experts have predicted a humongous opening for the Shankar directorial which has been in the making for last three years.
After the release of Baahubali The Conclusion, all the box office records of India were re-written. Now, with the release of Shankar’s 2.0, it looks like the history will repeat itself.
As reported to be India’s costliest film 2.0 has been released in about 10500 screens around the world. Trade analysts predict that the film will surpass previous records without breaking a sweat.
While, it is said that the 2.0 will earn at least Rs 20-25 crore in the north belt, as the presence of Akshay Kumar in the film will surely attract a lot of audiences, the analysts predicted in Tamil Nadu 2.0 is expected to collect about 25 to 30 crore on its opening day .
Trade experts have predicted a breaking box office collection for the S Shankar’s directorial 2.0.
