On Wednesday afternoon, authorities deboarded passengers from a Delhi bound Indigo airline flight after arriving at Srinagar airport in “close proximity” of accumulated snow.
Sharad Kumar, Director, India Airport Authority, informed GNS that the passengers had been transferred to other aircraft to avoid any incidents.
“The possibility of an incident existed as the aircraft came close to the snow accumulated there and the aircraft was stopped there in order to avoid it (incident), and then,” he said.
The aircraft was later toed and brought back on track, Sharma said.
He said that the aircraft was bound for New Delhi and had to stop at about 12:30 p.m. As it came to the close vicinity of the accumulation of snow.
The incident caused panic among the passengers, but as an official informed them about it, things eased.
