Hindu gurus depicted as criminals and drug dealers in web series ‘Ashram’, Notice to Bobby Deol, Prakash Jha

A court in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur has notified Bollywood producer and director Prakash Jha and actor Bobby Deol in a case filed against their ‘Ashram’ web series on OTT platforms.

Issuing a notice, the Jodhpur District and the Sessions Court scheduled the next hearing on 11 January..

Advocate Khush Khandelwal said he had moved the court against Jha’s web series, in which Bobby Deol is depicted as a godman, and the Hindu gurus have been revealed to be criminals and drug dealers. This web series hurt the religious feelings of the Hindus, he said.

Khandelwal said that he attempted to file a FIR with the Kudi police station, but was unsuccessful and thus went to jail.

The web series “Ashram” has had two sessions and the third season is coming soon.
