The recent turmoil about SC/ST and Dalits in the country caused another political gimmick in the country. As always, Congress president Rahul Gandhi started it and blamed BJP for dissolving the SC/ST rights in the country.
In a recent press conference arranged at BJP HQ, Ravi Shankar Prasad (Union Minister) and Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot (Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in Modi ministry), denied all the blames of dissolving Dalit rights in the country.
On behalf of BJP, Ravi Shankar Prasad started the conference with a quote by Dr. Ambedkar saying, “Dalit Andolan Na Kabhi Hinsak Hona Chaiye Na Hoga”. (Dalit protests should never be violent, nor will it”.)
Ravi Shankar Prasad also pointed out the fact that, schedule cast/schedule tribe act came in 1989, and in the year 2015, BJP introduced some major changes in it.
As he said, “The 1989 Act was amended further in 2015 to make it more stringent. Tonsuring of head, mustache or any other act by dominant caste people aimed at attacking the dignity of a person belonging to SC/ST communities were included among the offenses under the law. He also mentioned the witness protection program augmented by BJP government.
Further saying, Ravi Shankar talked about the revolutionary step taken by BJP government. Digital India is a new India, which was promoted with the help of BHIM app. The application is based on the name of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Mr. Ravi Shankar also highlighted the fact that, from a region like Tripura, BJP got 90% support, which is a tribal area.
He kept on talking about the hypocrisy with which Mayawati is played the Dalit card. We all know that Kanshi Ram ji was the founder of Bahujan Samaj Party, who never believed in violence (hinsa). On contrary, we are seeing a great deal of violence prevailing in the country with the motive of caste politics.
Specially, the states like Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat, many other neighboring states saw the adverse effects in the form of no internet connection, section 144 and a petrifying environment.
Further on, Mr. Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot took the lead and pointed out the loopholes in the justice system of Congress and former UP CM Mayawati.
During Mayawati’s tenure in UP, the case of “Promotion Mein Arakshan”, (Promotion in Arakshan) shows the failing policies of Mayawati.
She was asked three questions like:
Q.1. Will you get complete reciprocity or not?
Q2. May this promotion cause a negative impact on non-eligible candidates or not?
Q3. Will this curb backwardness or not?
These questions were an opportunity for Mayawati, where she could give legitimate answers and win the case. Instead, she did not give any direct answer and blamed the court for asking these questions. Hence, the court’s verdict went against the case.
Minister Thanwar pointed out that, the question about the negative impact had a straight answer that, “candidates with excellent CR will get the eligibility for the promotion”.
Further moving, he said, “Congress tagged some of the government-affiliated universities as “alpsankhyak university” (minority university), but also took away the reservation rights which were made for Dalits, SC/ST.” One of the examples is Jamia Milia Islamia Vishwavidyalya.
As per the constitution, “any government-affiliated organization, should it be school OR college, will possess the scholarship related provisions.”
Congress government went against the law and tried to halt this provision.
- Under the rule of BJP government, SC/ST and Dalits can avail the health benefits of up to Rs. 3.5 lac under Ambedkar Foundation. This is applicable in diseases like Cancer, heart and kidney related diseases.
- If an upper caste person and lower caste person get married, then they are entitled to the monetary help of Rs. 2.5 lac.
