Launching the ‘Ayushman India’ Scheme in Jharkhand on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government-sponsored insurance scheme will benefit more than 50 crore people.
“This are the world’s biggest health insurance scheme within the world and will benefit more than 50 crore people,” he said. Ayushman Bharat is a healthcare scheme aimed at providing providing medicare to over 10 crore vulnerable families or an estimated 50 crore people. Under the scheme, a health cover of Rs 5 Lakh would be given to each beneficiary family per year.
A beneficiary lined under Ayushman Bharat will be entitled to avail cashless cover of medical expenditure during treatment at identified or empanelled private hospital across the country. Insurance cover under Ayushman Bharat will include pre and post hospitalisation expenses. Launching the scheme in Ranchi, the prime minister claimed that no government in the world at the moment is running a state-funded health insurance scheme that has an outlay surpassing that of the Aayushman Bhrat scheme.”We have started this theme with the aim to supply treatment and insurance cover to the poorest of the poor. The scheme will profit people theme can profit people irrespective of caste, sex, faith and region,” he said.
Outlining the size of coverage beneath the scheme, Modi said the entire range of beneficiaries of his insurance cover is equal to the combined population of European Union. “If you combined the population of the US, Mexico and Canada at one aspect, and also the beneficiaries of Aayushman Bharat scheme at others aspect then, the 2 figures would be close to equal,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that the beneficiaries of the schemes are covered upto 1,300 ailments, together with cancer, issues associated with heart, kidney, Liver. “Treatment up to Rs five lakhs are allotted freed from government and private hospitals. The value can embrace treatment, medical aid charge, medicine, among others,” he said. From the event Modi attacked Congress and Previous UPA government but was keep mum on Rafale issue. He said, “Since independence, they Congress solely did politics of exploitation of the poor, instead of empowering them. Had they worked for the poor, the state of the state would are completely different these days.”
