A Hindu woman, due to marry a man of her community, was shot dead recently in Pakistan’s Sindh province by a Muslim man who was pressurising her for days to marry him instead.
The 32-year-old, Rajkumari Talreja, was an owner of a fitness centre in the province’s Shikarpur city. She was scheduled to tie the nuptial knot with a man named Akash Kewalramani on February 3 in Karachi city.
But Talreja was shot dead by the Muslim man named, Agha Salar Khan Pathan, who was stalking her for days. He was an inspector in the anti-encroachment cell.
The incident occurred in Shikarpur in January-end but was came to light much later.
Not just that feeling infuriated at the refusal, Pathan, the Muslim stalker, first killed her and later himself too. It is reportedly stated that he was feeling humiliated that a Hindu woman refused to marry him.
Pathan was reportedly stalking Rajkumari for a long time.
In Pakistan, to marry a Muslim means is to first embrace Islam. Once converted, one cannot convert back to the original faith.
For years, the Hindus have been going through harassment of forceful conversions.
The recent incident has shocked and saddened the Hindu minorities in Pakistan.
Most often Muslim men forcefully ask Hindu women to convert to Islam and then marry them.
Constituting only 2% of the entire population of Pakistan, the Hindus face atrocities in Pakistan. The travails of the Hindu minority in Pakistan seem very dreadful and unending.
