Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lambasted the Congress for making personal attacks on him, days after its leader Raj Babbar compared the rupee’s slide with the age of his mother by saying those who didn’t have issues to talk about, resort to abusing someone else’s mother.
Referring to Cong leader Babbar’s recent remark, he said the opposition congress is rattled by the good work of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Furthermore, PM Modi said, “For the past 18 years, I have been defeating the Congress at every single opportunity, and today it has fallen to the level that it has dragged my mother in elections. Congress cannot fight Modi, which is why it is now abusing my mother”.
Congress leader Raj Babbar compared the devalued rate of the Indian rupee to the PM’s nonagenarian mother, who is around 97 years old, on Thursday. While Babbar was attending a rally in Indore, said “He (Modi) used to say that the rupee has fallen so much against the dollar that it was nearing the age of the then prime minister (Manmohan Singh). Today, the rupee’s value has dropped so low, that it is inching closer to your (Modi’s) beloved mother’s age”.
On the other hand, while Modi was addressing a rally in Chhtarpur, Madhya Pradesh, he slammed the Congress, saying, “125 crore people of the country were the ‘high-command’ of his government, which was ‘not remote controlled by a madam (Sonia Gandhi).”
PM also said that corruption is the culture of the Congress. Without mentioning the name of UPA chairperson’s name, he further asserted “Those who are out on bail in corruption cases are now unnerved. Coffers of banks were emptied for rich during madam’s (Sonia Gandhi) government, but we opened banks’ doors for needy youth”.
Modi asked why Congress was abusing Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who people fondly refer to as ‘maama’.
Further, referring to the Bofors scandal and the 1984 Bhopal Gas tragedy, PM asserted “Unlike Shivraj Chouhan, who is called ‘maama’ out of people’s appreciation, Congress should worry about your own ‘Maamas’— Ottavio Quattrocchai ‘maama’ and Warren Anderson ‘maama’, who were sent to America in a special airplane”.
Modi also stated that the Congress was voted out of power in Madhya Pradesh 15 years ago because it indulged in dynastic politics and the politics of divisiveness.
Earlier, the Congress scion had targeted Modi alleging that he created a cobweb just like the Bollywood villain Mogambo to ‘loot’ the armed forces and that the Rafale scam is one of his many adventures which will be exposed soon.
The 230 members of Madhya Pradesh assembly will go to polls on November 28 and it will be only clear on December 11 as to who the people of the MP have blessed with their votes after the EVM’s are opened for counting on the same day.
