NEW DELHI: A designated court sent Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das to five days of judicial custody following their involvement in an unauthorized gathering at Jantar Mantar. The legal action followed charges related to violating local regulatory restrictions, disrupting public movement, and breaching security norms in the protected area.
Law enforcement personnel reported that the demonstrators were directed to disperse in accordance with established civic guidelines. Following non-compliance with the advisory, both individuals were detained and presented before the competent judicial authority, which evaluated police submissions before issuing the five-day custody order.
Both individuals were subsequently transferred to custody facilities under standard statutory procedures. Administrative officials reiterated that public order regulations will be strictly enforced in sensitive zones, noting that demonstrations conducted without requisite clearances remain subject to formal legal procedures.
