Senior IPS officer SBK Singh has been given additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner by the Union Home Ministry. According to the order of the ministry, Singh, a 1988 batch AGMUT cadre officer, will take over this responsibility from August 1, 2025.
Order of appointment
The Home Ministry gave official approval to this appointment on Thursday. Singh, currently working as the Director General of Delhi Home Guards, has been given this additional responsibility till further instructions. The ministry has sent a copy of the order to the Chief Secretary of Delhi, Delhi Police Commissioner, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor and the concerned officials. Also, instructions have been issued to publish it on the official website.
Term of office of the present Commissioner expires
The current Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, a 1988 batch IPS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, is retiring on July 31, 2025. Arora took over as Delhi Police Commissioner on August 1, 2022, succeeding Rakesh Asthana.

SBK Singh is renowned for his vast expertise in the field of policing and internal security. This appointment has been made under administrative reorganization. Singh will be responsible for leading the Delhi Police till further orders.
