Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the nation on Monday in paying tribute to the first President of India late Dr Rajendra Prasad on his 134th birth anniversary.
In a tweet, the Vice-President remembered Dr Rajendra Prasad and his invaluable services to the nation as a freedom fighter and first President, saying “Dr Prasad’s vision and leadership will continue to guide the nation and the people.”
Prime Minister Modi in a tweet stated “A symbol of rich talent, simple life and high thoughts and ideas, Rajendra Babu will always remain an inspiration to the countrymen”.
Dr Rajendra Prasad served as President of India from 1952 to 1962. He was a lawyer by training.
