After winning their 1st ever T20 game against New Zealand at the capital, India will take on New Zealand for the second match at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on Saturday 04th November 2017.
India will want to seal their first ever T20 series against New Zealand on Saturday.
New Zealand, on the other hand, will aim to bounce back and stay alive in the series.
The Kiwis were blown away by the Indian team on Wednesday. But the Kiwis should not be taken lightly. They can bounce back and dominate this shortest format.
New Zealand will aim for a much-improved bowling performance in the 2nd match. Their bowlers were smashed by Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli and MS Dhoni in Delhi.
Only positive for them from that match is Ish Sodi. Sodi is that X-factor for New Zealand. He has good success against India in T20 Internationals.
But the worry for them is the form of their batsmen are in. Except for Kane Williamson, Tom Latham and Mitch Santner, no one batted well.
Opening form is still a concern for the Kiwis. Martin Guptill and Colin Munro are still struggling to give a good opening start.
Munro played well in the last ODI at Kanpur. But he failed to score runs in the last T20 match in Delhi.
Guptill is still struggling, after his poor run in One Day Series, Martin carried that form into the 1st T20 match as well. He needs to find a way to score runs.
New Zealand needs both the openers to fire in do or die game. With series at stake, the openers will hold the key for them in the next match.
Kane Williamson and Tom Latham played well. But they should stick till the end. They should know that their lower order is inexperienced.
The Kiwis should include their senior pro Ross Taylor in their squad for this must-win game. Ross has the experience and he is the best man to handle the pressure situation.
Ross Taylor can be replaced by Colin De Grandhomme. Colin didn’t play well in the One Day Series and in the 1st T20 match he was out for a duck. He should make a way for his senior partner.
The bowling looked weak; Tim Southee and Trent Boult were expensive. They should bowl well in this series-deciding match.
Mitch Santner batted well but his weak link was his bowling. He is an all-round talent, he needs to use it now and help his team to level the series.
The playing XI of New Zealand –
Ross Taylor should come in the place of Colin De Grandhomme. Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Trent Boult, Ish Sodi, Tim Southee and Tom Latham.
India will enjoy this contest, after winning the first match of the series, Kohli and his men have the confidence to seal the series at Rajkot itself.
Dhawan and Rohit batted well in Delhi, they should keep this good form going.
But concern for India is the form of Hardik Pandya. He was out for a duck, he didn’t play well.
Kohli and MS Dhoni should continue their hitting form. It was great to see Dhoni’s first ball for six. Kohli too was in good hitting form. They should continue that in the 2nd match.
Bowling has been the strength for India now, Bhuvi and Bumrah are the spearheads of the Indian bowling attack.
Spinners took are creditable for their performance. Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel bowled well in the last game.
The Indian team looks stronger after their first win.
The Indian Playing XI –
India will go with the same squad. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul/Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.
