Australia is set to whitewash England after dumping them at Perth.
Australia will look for a 4-0 lead in this 5 match test series against a side which has forgotten how to fight in this series. England will want to win the last two test matches to salvage some pride.
Australia has been in the top gear and the 3 test that they have played were completely dominating. The test matches at Brisbane, Adelaide Oval and Perth looked pretty much a one-sided affair.
That was mainly because England had no answer to Australia’s dominance. The English Men are completely reliant on Joe Root and Alastair Cook in the batting department. With James Anderson and Stuart Board in the bowling department.
These 4 players are under performing for the visitors. Hence England are down with 0-3 in this series.
Cook, Root, Anderson and Board are the key players in the England camp.
Anderson bowled well in the Pink Ball test match but that lone performance wasn’t enough for England to win that Day Night test match. England will want Stuart Board to perform in this test match. Board hasn’t been as lethal bowler for England.
Many times he has been wicket less in the innings, that’s not what England needs from their senior player like Board.
Moeen Ali has been also disappointing for the visitors. He fails to deliver in away conditions. Moeen hasn’t been the threat that he posses in home condition for England.
England should drop Moeen Ali and pick Gray Ballance in the next two test matches. Ballance is a much more experienced player than Moeen Ali. England will have depth in their batting order if Ballance makes his way in the squad.
Only positive for England from the last test was a fighting knocks from Johnny Bairstow and Dawid Mallan, they were the reason for England to score 403 runs. They were struggling even to reach 350 at one stage but Bairstow and Mallan repaired the England innings and helped their team to reach a decent total.
Craig Overton’s bowling also has been impressive in the two test matches that he has played so far. But other bowlers leaked runs and failed to pick up any wickets, that’s why England are in such a miserable condition.
England should forget about the participation of their star all-rounder Ben Stokes now they should concentrate on the players who are around for them.
At Melbourne Cricket Ground the Aussies have an upper hand. Both the teams have played 55 matches in all and Australia have won 28 of them and England have won 20 with 7 test matches have ended in a draw.
England will look to improve on this record and Australia on the other hand will to continue their winning streak at MCG.
Australia will look a whitewash, after a thumping win at Perth Steve Smith and his men will aim for a 5-0 win.
Steve Smith has batted like the best test batsman of this era. He is the number one batsmen in the ICC test rankings and only the second Australian batsmen to have the best rating in the ICC batting chart.
His double hundred at Perth and his hundred at Brisbane sealed a series win for the Aussies.
David Warner and Bancroft didn’t deliver as opening batsmen, apart from the 2nd innings in the Brisbane test, the Aussie openers haven’t been scoring the runs.
Australia will want Warner to fire in this match If Warner fires than it will be good for Australia.
Shaun Marsh played a good hand in the first and the second test. But he failed to score big at Perth. He will want score another big ton and his guide his team through to a win.
Mitchell Marsh had an oustanding test match in front of his home ground and family. His career best knock has guaranteed his place in the test squad. He will want to do more in the next two games.
Josh Hzlewood, Pat Cummins Nathan Lyon are in prime form for Australia. They are the threat to England. Their bowling is also the key to Australia’s success.
But Australia will surely miss Mitchell Starc. Starc is not playing in the 4th test because of injury. Jackson Bird will replace Starc for this test.
The last time when Australia and England played at Melbourne Cricket Ground that was in 2013. Australia won that match 8 wickets.
Even though England lost that game but James Anderson pick up a 4 wicket haul in 1st innings of that test match. But in the second innings, he failed to pick a single wicket.
Australia played their last test at MCG in 2016 against Pakistan. Australia won that game by an innings 18 runs.
Australia has a very good record at Melbourne, it won’t be easy for England to beat the Aussies at the most favourite venue. Joe Root and his men have an uphill task to their name.
Australia’s Playing XI –
The Aussies will Jackson Bird to deliver in the absence of Starc.
Steve Smith (C), David Warner, Cameron Bancraft, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon.
England must try something new just to surprise the Aussies. They have nothing to lose at the moment. If something comes out well then it will great for them.
England should pick Gray Ballance in place of Moeen Ali. They need batsmen to score runs and Moeen Ali has struggled to pick up wickets and to score runs.
Ballance is the experienced player after Cook and Skipper Root. Hence he should get that consideration.
Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, Joe Root (C), Dawid Malan, Gary Balance, Jonny Bairstow, James Vince, Chris Woakes, Stuart Board, James Anderson, Jake Ball/Craig Overton.
