#ViratKohli and #ABD took #RCB to a good win over poor #DD.
It is the bowling which is the main worry for the Double D’s – Delhi Daredevils, they again failed to defend the decent total.
DD has lost two matches in a row when they scored 180 plus total, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, it was Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan who took SRH to a good win and yesterday for RCB – Royal Challengers Bangalore it was master class knocks from AB De Villers and Virat Kohli.
Delhi score 181 runs after RCB won the toss and opted to field first.
The start again wasn’t a desired one for the home team, their openers disappointed yet again by adding just 4 runs.
Prithvi Shaw had been inconsistent after playing some few good knocks, he fell early yesterday too. He was out for just 2 runs.
Then, Jason Roy scored some runs but he too didn’t bat well in this match. He departed for 12 runs.
The innings was rebuilt by skipper Shreyas Iyer and young talented Rishabh Pant.
These two middle order pillars of Delhi Daredevils took DD above the hundred run mark.
Iyer and Pant added 93 runs which brought the DD innings back on track.
Pant who batted so beautifully against SRH came good again. He continued from where he left in the last match.
But his brilliant 61 run cameo was ended by England’s spinner Moen Ali.
Pant went for a slog but he didn’t time the ball that well, he was very well taken by ABD at the long on region.
After this wicket, skipper Shreyas Iyer also departed early. He didn’t convert the start; he was out painfully because he couldn’t middle the ball which was bowled from Mohd Siraj. Iyer’s little knock ended on 32 runs.
The later part of DD’s innings was taken care by Vijay Shankar and Abhishekh Sharma.
The two youngsters steadied the sinking ship for Delhi, they guided the innings towards the 20 over mark.
Here, the RCB bowlers lost the plot, they failed to end the innings well as Shankar and Sharma build an unbeaten partnership and took the score to a good one.
These two added 61 runs in the last 5 overs, Sharma was the aggressor in this partnership and Shankar played a good supporting hand.
Due to this crucial partnership, DD score reached 181 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Abhishekh Sharma was not out on 46 runs and Vijay Shankar was unbeaten on 21 runs.
The RCB bowlers started off well but the partnership between Sharma and Shankar took the game away from them.
Yuzvendra Chahal took 2 wickets to his name and Moen Ali, Mohd Siraj took 1 wicket each to their name.
The run chase of 182 runs was led by Virat Kohli and AB De Villers.
RCB had a new opening start, Moen Ali was sent in as an opener with Parthiv Patel but this also didn’t work for them.
Ali got out in the first over, he was dismissed by Trent Boult for just a single run.
In the next over Parthiv Patel was also out, he was out the debutant Sandeep Lamichhane for just 6 runs.
RCB had a bad start to this run chase, but Kohli and ABD batted in such way that these two wickets didn’t affect RCB.
Full flowing Kohli and smashing ABD took the game away complete from the Daredevils.
The 118 run partnership between these two RCB pillars brought them back in the contest.
ABD started off slowly but he also matched Kohli later as he progressed his innings.
This partnership was aiming for a comfortable victory but the wicket of Kohli gave chance for DD to make a comeback.
This huge partnership was broken by Amit Mishra, he dismissed the Indian Captain in the 13th over.
Kohli was in tremendous form but he failed to carry along the innings with De Villers.
He went for the drive but he didn’t counter the spin, he got the inside edge and it was picked up by Rishabh Pant. Kohli was out after scoring marvellous 70 runs.
Then the RCB innings fumbled a bit, it was mainly because of Mandeep Singh and Sarfaraz Khan didn’t use this opportunity to guide the innings through with AB De Villers who was still batting at the other end.
Both, Singh and Khan were in hurry to finish of the game but DD picked up these two batsmen and gave themselves another chance.
Fortunately for Royals Challengers Bangalore, AB De Villers was there to bat in the final few overs.
ABD was 72 not out and Colin Grandhomme was unbeaten 3 runs.
ABD and Colin Grandhomme took the Bangalore team home without any further damage.
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 5 wickets and with 1 over to spare.
Delhi bowlers turned out to be the Devils once again, their batting looks decent but bowling hasn’t been upto the mark.
Sandeep Lamichhane, Amit Mishra, and Harshal Patel took 1 wicket each with Trent Boult took 2 wickets to his name.
AB De Villers was awarded the man of the match for his good innings of unbeaten 72 runs.
