The #RCB bowlers did a fantastic job, they bowled out #KXIP for a paltry score of just 88 runs.
The last two matches have been good for RCB – Royal Challengers Bangalore. After their good win over the double D’s, they gave a much better performance against KXIP – Kings XI Punjab yesterday.
For Kings XI Punjab this performance was a miserable one, now they have lost two matches in a row because of their batting failures.
In a small ground like Indore, the KXIP batsmen couldn’t do much in front of Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Moen Ali, Tim Southee, and Colin De Grandhomme.
Their running between the wickets was also in question, KXIP had 3 run outs in yesterday’s match.
And the RCBians were all over the Punjabis in that match at their home ground.
Royal Challengers won the toss and opted to bowl first.
The KXIP openers, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle gave them a decent start to the innings.
KL Rahul has been in-form of his life, he continued to pile on some runs under his belt and Gayle again started off slowly but he too matched Rahul’s hitting after some overs.
Gayle and Rahul gave KXIP a start of 36 runs in 4.3 overs, but the wicket of well set KL Rahul brought RCB back in the contest.
Rahul departed early for a change, he has been the one who has fired for the Punjab team.
His wicket was a huge boost for RCB, Umesh Yadav struck for RCB as he picked up the most crucial wicket of Lokesh Rahul.
The short delivery came quicker than Rahul’s expectations. He went for the shot but the man at the square leg region took it well. Rahul was out for 21 runs.
This huge wicket brought RCB back and then, they took the game away from KXIP.
As Umesh Yadav struck once again in that same over, after two balls, Chris Gayle was also out which put KXIP in more trouble.
Gayle Storm has not fired to a great extent in this IPL 2018, apart from 1 hundred against CSK he hasn’t had a good IPL.
In this match, KXIP needed Gayle to fire but he didn’t. He was out on another short delivery; these short balls did some serious damage to KXIP.
Even the Universal Boss couldn’t get hold of it, he top-edged it and it went to Mohd Siraj at the deep square leg region.
KXIP were in trouble after the openers were dismissed in quick succession.
Karun Nair was the next batsmen with Aaron Finch, But Nair also didn’t last for long. He was out early once again, the number 3 batting position hasn’t been working for him.
Nair was gone for just a single run, he was out to another short delivery which was taken by the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli at slips.
Then the wickets continued to tumble for the Kings XI Punjab. They lost wickets at regular intervals.
Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Agarwal, and Ravichandran Ashwin were also out quickly.
Aaron Finch batted well for a bit but he too couldn’t carry along his gutsy innings nicely. He was dismissed for 26 runs.
Finch went for a slog sweep but he couldn’t get the desired timing on it, the ball went straight to Skipper VK at the mid-wicket region.
The Kings XI Punjab continued to fumble as the three-run outs also helped RCB, these run-outs allowed them to dismiss KXIP for the lowest total at Indore.
It was a great exhibition of bowling and fielding from the Royals Challengers Bangalore, this collective effort allowed them to bundle out the KXIP team for just 88 runs.
Due to such great bowling from RCB, the KXIP batsmen couldn’t play the whole 20 overs. They were dismissed in just 15.1 overs.
For RCB, Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers. He took 3 wickets and with him, Colin De Grandhomme, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohd Siraj and Moen Ali took 1 wicket each to their name.
The run chase of 89 runs was easy for the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsmen.
They were in decent form, especially skipper Virat Kohli and AB De Villers.
Many thought that out of form players like Sarfaraz Khan and Parthiv Patel would open the innings and chase down this small target.
But the Captain Virat Kohli took the responsibility on himself, he opened with Parthiv Patel and chased this low total down without any damage.
Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel shared a match-winning and unbeaten partnership of 92 runs which gave them a big win over Kings XI Punjab.
skipper Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 48 runs and Parthiv Patel supported his skipper well, he was not out on 40 runs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore hammered the Kings XI Punjab team completely, they won this match without losing a single wicket.
It looked like the KXIP bowlers have surrendered themselves, no bowlers picked up a single wicket for their team.
Even their purple cap holder Andrew Tye wasn’t that impressive. He also went wicketless.
Royal Challengers Bangalore chased down this low target in just 8.1 overs and won this match by 10 wickets comfortably.
This huge win for RCB meant that they are still in the contention of the playoffs of this IPL 2018 season if they manage to win their remaining games in such a big way then who knows they might end up being in top 4.
Umesh Yadav continued to prick the Kings XI Punjab team; he earned his man of the match award for the second time against them.
