
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the ‘captain cool’ of Indian cricket seems to have fallen-off with the Goenka’s, of the RPG group, who hold the annual ‘CEAT International Cricket Awards’.
At a recently held CEAT International Cricket Awards ceremony in Mumbai, the tyre manufacturer celebrated the success of international cricket players and honoured the best in the gentleman’s game, based on their performances, and as rated by the CEAT Cricket Ratings (CCR) for the year 2017 – 2018. The awards honoured the best of the International cricketers in all formats of the game, i.e. Test, ODI and T20.
Chairman of RPG Group, Harsh Goenka, applauding each and every player for their dedication to the game, said: “We have witnessed some outstanding performances in the year 2017, but these individuals broke away from the pack owing to their blistering and consistent performances throughout the year. We are delighted to felicitate them at this year’s CEAT Cricket Rating Awards and congratulate them for entertaining us throughout and would like to wish them the best for the upcoming season”
While Indian Team Captain Virat Kohli was announced as the CEAT International Cricketer of the Year, Shikhar Dhawan, the blistering batter was conferred with the CEAT International Batsman of the Year award, and Trent Boult was honoured for his bowling and was named as the CEAT International Bowler of the year. CEAT also awarded Rashid Khan the ‘spin bowling sensation’ from Afghanistan for his outstanding bowling. Colin Munro was also honoured for his exceptional batting in the T20 format of the game. Encouraging young talent, India’s new find Shubman Gill who performed exceptionally well in Indian under-19 win against England was awarded as the Under-19 player of The Year. The outstanding innings of the year award went to Harmanpreet Kaur, while Mayank Agarwal was awarded as Domestic Cricketer of the Year.

The stalwart of Indian cricket, Farokh Engineer, who has carved a name for himself as a legend of the game was awarded the ‘CCR International Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his outstanding contribution to Indian cricket.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion cricket legend and the chief adjudicator of the CEAT Cricket Rating, Sunil Gavaskar praising the CEAT awards said: “For the last 2 decades, the CEAT International Cricket Awards are one of the most coveted awards in the cricketing world simply because they are given purely on performance of the cricketer. Unlike most of the awards, CEAT International Cricket Awards not only presents the winners with a glorious trophy but also a cash incentive.”
