Australia is in search of their first win in the edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
UN lucky Australia their both the games has been washed out due to rains and they are in the situation of do or die before facing England in a crunch game.
England will take on the under pressure Aussies today in match number 10 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
The world champions Australia will have to win this game to stay in the contention of the semi final berth. If Australia loses this game then they would be out of the tournament.
England on the other hand has nothing to lose. They had big wins over Bangladesh and New Zealand to seal the semi final berth. England is the first team to qualify for the semis in this year’s and in this competition.
It would be fair enough to say that Australia’s batting line up hasn’t been tested at all in this tournament so far. But their bowling has been the strongest over the years. Against New Zealand their bowlers back strongly after Kane Williamson’s hundred and it was a bowler’s show against Bangladesh. Mitchell Starc was simply awesome against the minnows. Josh Hazlewood is also in great form, it was his bowling that restricted the New Zealand batsmen to score only 291 in an rain affected game of 46 overs.
Skipper Steve Smith have used part time bowling options pretty well, few overs from Travis Head and James Hasting were decent till now.
Only one full time spinner for Australia for now, Adam Zampa looked good in the game against Bangladesh. His 2 wickets in back to back overs made Bangladesh to look more miserable.
England again will rely on their batting star Joe Root, reliable opener Alex Hales and expected some more fireworks from all rounder Ben Stokes and their skipper Eion Morgan. But they want Jason Roy to fire in this match. Roy hasn’t been good with the bat for them. He has only registered 2 double digit scores in 7 One Day Internationals till now.
England would also need some form from wicket keeper batsman Jos Buttler as well. Buttler played an impressive innings of 61 not out against New Zealand. Skipper Morgan will hope that he (Buttler) will continues such great from and finish the innings on a high.
England team has no problems what so ever in their game against Australia. The home team are the favourites to win this contest.
For Australia they need to play out of their skins to defeat England at home. They will need a good start from Warner and Finch. Skipper Steve Smith should fire in this crucial match. With Smith, Australia will need players like Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head and Moises Henriques should fire in this crunch game. Their all round ability is asset for the team.
