It’s the deciding match of the T20 series; it is going to be played on the 07th November 2017 at Green Field International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
New Zealand did well to bounce back at Rajkot. The Kiwis will look to win the T20 series on Tuesday. India on the other hand will look to recreate the magic that they did in Delhi.
The hosts were beyond ordinary at Rajkot, their batsmen and bowlers failed to win the match on Saturday. Even the fielders weren’t there to take their chances. They were sloppy in the field.
Kohli will want a much improved performance from his team when they take on the Black Caps for the last time in this series.
New Zealand has been good, it was close finish in the ODI series and the win Rajkot will lift up Kane Williamson and his troops. They fought well on this tour. The Kiwis will want to end the tour with a win.
India needs to strike, the openers did well in Delhi but failed to repeat the same performance while chasing 197 runs.
Hardik Pandya’s form is a concern, he hasn’t been that threat as he was against Australia. He didn’t bat well in ODIs and in the first 2 matches he scored only 1 run.
Kohli should understand that Hardik can’t be his premiere batsmen. When a player like MS Dhoni is there in the squad, there is no need to try someone else. Dhoni should be ahead of Hardik Pandya in the next match.
Kohli batted well, so did Dhoni and young Shreyas Iyer. But Kohli should bat at his best position that is number 3. He has been the best player to bat in number 3 batting position for India.
Chesteshwar Pujara has been best in test at number 3 and Virat Kohli has been the best when it comes to ODIs and T20s. He should bat at number 3 position.
Dhoni should be promoted ahead of Hardik Pandya, the last time when Dhoni was batting at number 4 position, he scored 56 against England at Bengaluru. This was his maiden half century in T20 cricket. If he gets more chances like these then surely MSD will do well.
Hardik Pandya should step up, he didn’t bowl well nor did he bat well at Rajkot. Pandya is a pinch hitter in the team so he should be sent at that position.
Pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar did well in Delhi but didn’t pick a single wicket at Rajkot. They need to pick wicket because India depends on them for early breakthroughs. They also need to bowl well in depth overs, both Bhuvi and Bumrah are India’s specialist with new ball and in depth overs.
Debutant Mohd Siraj bowled decently; he took the wicket of one of the best batsman of this generation. The wicket of Kane Williamson should give the confidence to young Mohd Siraj.
Yuzvendra Chahal wasn’t up to the mark, but he provided an important breakthrough. He needs to step up. Axar Patel didn’t pick up a single wicket at Rajkot. Kuldeep Yadav is warming the bench; he is not in the playing XI because of Axar.
This is India’s best chance to clinch their first ever 1st T20 series against New Zealand.
India’s playing XI –
Hardik Pandya can be replaced by Dinesh Karthik. DK batted well in last two ODIs and has a good record in T20s. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, MS Dhoni, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya/Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.
The Kiwis will look to continue their blazing form. They were awesome in Rajkot.
The openers will look to continue their form; Martin Guptill and Colin Munro were top class against the Indian bowling attack.
Kane Williamson played well in Delhi, but couldn’t go the long way at Rajkot.
Their pacer bowling was also good compared to Delhi. Trent Boult was in action with his 4 wickets. He will want to keep that form going in the last T20 match.
Mitch Santner, Ish Sodhi and Adam Milne also supported Boult well. They picked up 1 wicket each to helped their team to make a good comeback.
Colin Munro was a good as an all rounder. He will look to do more for the one last time on Tuesday.
The New Zealand’s playing XI –
The Kiwis will go with the same Match winning squad. Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Tom Bruce, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Trent Boult, Ish Sodi, Tim Southee and Tom Latham.
