It was the 700th International match win for India and also an another trophy under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
What a final it was in the Asia Cup on this weekend. It was full of entertainment. The match ended in the last ball while Kedar Jadav took the winning run for his country.
Last time also it was thrilling and full of entertainment when both of these rivalries met in the Nidhas Trophy final where we saw India’s winning run with a six by Dinesh Karthik in the last ball of the match.
On Friday, India choose to field first after winning the toss. Bangladesh started superbly in the opening pair with Liton Das (121) and Mehdi Hasan Miraz (32). They lost their first wicket in 21st over at 120 runs on the board.
However, apart from this duo, only Saumya Sarkar (33) managed to make the double figure. At some point of time, it was assumed that they would put a huge total against the men in blues. But Kuldeep Yadav gave India oxygen with 3 wickets including the most important wicket of Liton Das. And on the other hand Kedar Jadav supported Kuldeep taking 2 wickets for his team.
With 223 runs target, India’s opening pair captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walked down to the crease and gave India a good start. But unfortunately, Dhawan had to stop at just 15 runs while the ‘Hitman’ missed the half century by just 2 runs. The Nidhas Final Hero Dinesh Karthik (37 off 61) and ex-skipper MS Dhoni (36 off 67) tried to manage the middle order with a half century partnership but they faced too many balls. Jadeja (23) and Bhubaneshwar Kumar (21) also played two important innings to India’s victory.
Though India won the final, undoubtedly it was a super fight by the ‘Tigers’ and were very much close to their ‘Nagin Dance’. But unfortunately, they missed it this time.
Everybody praised Bangladesh for putting up a great fight against a very small total. This is the 3rd time that Bangladesh got the runners trophy in the Asia Cup. Before the WC 2019, it’s probably the last biggest tournament that the Asians have played where Sri Lanka disappointing their fans. Both the finalist have shown their strengths and they would surely put trouble on the opposition whereas India is the hot favourite for the supreme trophy. Now time would have all the answers how far they can go under Virat’s captaincy .
